We are Niljit [right] and Vivek [left].
Vivek is a long-time hotelier, managing his family run hotel business in NJP Siliguri. He also operates a tour & travel agency named Be An Explorer, a cycle rental unit named Siliguri Cycle Rental, and also handles a 13-room hotel unit in Gangtok, named Hotel White Lotus.
Niljit is a marketer, runs an agency named Good Fellow Consultancy providing marketing solutions to hospitality, real estate, and education sector.
Both Vivek and Niljit are passionate about the hospitality industry, fond of their hometown Siliguri & nearby region, their love for mountains, and always looking to spend time outdoors.
Our Story
Cafe & Stay was not a planned venture. We were just in the thinking stage of owning a small property in the nearby hills. This was also to be our first venture together.
During one of our visits to Darjeeling on a regular property hunt, we came across this property. Previously this property used to run as Pathi Bunkers, catering to travellers looking for limited budget accomodation.
What attracted us was the spacious feeling upon entering the open cafe space. Properties in hill stations feel small, and closed off in some sense. But this was different. The open space is large, can accomodate around 20-25 people, open to beautiful view of mountain valley on one side and climbing slope on the other, and gets a long period of sunlight falling in.
We checked of the rooms, and overall the property seemed like a good deal.
Post the final deal stage, we started working to renovate the property to bring it upto standards of basic comfort and cleanliness. It was quite a mess when we first set our hands at it.
It took us 2 months, to get it all organised, and finding right staff people to add to the operations team. However we run smooth now with bookings steadily picking up.
Our Vision
Our vision with Cafe & Stay is to provide a base for all travellers to experience Darjeeling. We are already providing comfortable stay and tasty fooding options, with good reviews left by our customers.
Our latest addition to services is outdoor activities such as Darjeeling Heritage Walk, short hike activities such as Love Road Trail, Old Military Road, Tiger Hill Trail, Red Panda Hike, and many more. We are also looking to facilitate mountain bike rentals for self-exploration of the city.

In terms of in-house facilities, we are soon adding the option to experience movie watching, that feels cozy and intimate. We will provide a wholesome package of stay that truly helps you relax and enjoy good times with your close ones.
We already have basic music setup incase you would like to jam a little with your friends. We are also looking to add more instruments for it to be complete package. If you love karaoke, music and jamming, we are your perfect stay.
